To design the structural components for a large new winery in accordance with the requirements of the architectural and process designs.
- Approximately 5000sq m winery built on a green fields site in two stages.
- Separate white and red wineries connected by a drive-through canopy.
- Ramped receival structures.
- Administration block.
- Cost-efficient structural framing taking gravity loads with insulated panels providing lateral strength.
- Specialist floor design for durability and crack control and falls to stainless drains.
LHTDesign carried out and documented all structural design including specialist floors, in conjunction with CEDCO Ltd project design, management and constructors, and the architects, Tennent Bevin Slessor Architects Ltd.
Structural observation on site was provided by LHTDesign engineers visiting on key dates, supplemented by assistance from local consulting engineers Davidson Partners.
Spy Valley is acknowledged in the industry as a cutting edge design that is being used as a benchmark by other wineries. Its distinctive architecture and efficient processing were supported by an innovative and cost-efficient structure and purpose-designed processing floors.
