Pernod Ricard, Thames Street Administration and Amenities Building, Napier

BRIEF
To design a modern, comfortable cluster of buildings that created a ‘green island’ amid an otherwise industrial site.  The aim was to bring together all Corbans Napier staff that were previously housed in different locations around the wine region.

PROJECT OUTLINE

  • 760sq m two storey office building including site reception, client meeting room, staff training and meeting room, and boardroom.
  • Also housed within the building is a commercial laboratory, tasting room and wine library (200sq m).
  • 230sq m staff amenities building including washrooms and cafeteria.
  • Large deck with walkway areas.
  • Access roads, car parking, hard landscaping (soft landscape design was handled by a contractor).

LHTDESIGN’S SCOPE OF WORKS
LHTDesign developed designs to convert the very barren exposed site into concepts for client approval and then prepared detailed designs for each building on a staged programme.

Detailed cost estimates were prepared and LHTDesign assisted with project re-scoping to work within budgets.

Our team also monitored construction for compliance purposes and assisted the builder with queries and matters as they arose.

OUTCOME
Much credit must be given to Barrie Browne of Pernod Ricard (since-retired) who had the original vision for the site and the buildings and followed that through until completion.

Together we have created the ‘green island’ of attractive consistently styled buildings that sit well within the surrounding industrial buildings, wine tanks and other essentially utilitarian constructions.

Pernod Ricard staff enjoy working in an effective, functional complex with its good vehicle access, flow, and parking.
