To design an attractive new leisure pool facility for the community of Tokoroa blending conventional lane-swimming facilities with more relaxing and entertaining water-based facilities.
- An indoor six lane 25m pool (2.1m to 1.05m depth) with an access ramp.
- 230 sq m of leisure water comprising of three circular pools and incorporating three waterfalls plus bubble features. All pools fully tiled.
- DE and sand filters and gas chlorination.
- Heat pump / heat sink system with sailcloth ducting.
- An acoustic ceiling.
- Building enclosing pools, entry foyer, ticketing and staff areas.
- Outdoor landscaped courtyard and parking area.
As principal consultants of this $2.5M swimming pool project, LHTDesign led the project team (including Chibnall Swan Architects and John Loughnan Mechanical Engineer) and controlled and coordinated the development of the concept, documentation and administration of construction.
LHTDesign also had particular responsibility for building design, civil and structural engineering, fire safety and water quality.
The completed swimming pool facility fully met the design, functional, and financial requirements of the client. It also achieved an NZIA architectural design award.
The project was completed on time and within budget.
