BRIEF
To design a new aquatic facility for a community with extremes of weather conditions and a large summer visitor population.
 
SWIMMING POOL DESIGN PROJECT OUTLINE

• New indoor six lane 25m deep end pool with an access ramp.
• Combined learners' / therapeutic toddlers' pool with waterfall, ramp entry and features that provide for therapy and fun.
• Spa pool.
• Provision for future hydroslides.
• Outdoor 25m x 25m pools incorporating a toddlers' pool and both play and lap areas in the main pool.
• Simple laminated timber framed building with all amenities.
• Acoustic ceilings.
• Extra insulation to cope with occasional long periods below freezing point.
• Myrtha technology for all except the spa pool.
• Pressure DE filters, hypochlorination.
• Efficient heat pump/heat sink system.

LHTDESIGN'S SCOPE OF WORKS
As principal consultants of this $4M swimming pool project, LHT Design led the design team (including ASC Architects, John Loughnan Mechanical Engineer and Premier Consultants) controlling and coordinating the development of the concept through to completion of the documentation and tendering. LHTDesign also administered the building contract.

LHTDesign had particular responsibility for planning, civil and structural engineering, fire safety, hydraulics, and water quality.
 
OUTCOME
The aquatic facility was opened in 2003 and has quickly proven to be a popular asset to the community.
