Extensive split level indoor leisure pool with waterfalls, lazy river, water cannons, islands, alcoves with massage jets, etc.
Separate toddlers' pool with features.
Learners' pool with varying depth in a separate space.
Very large spa pool.
Large free-form outdoor split level leisure pool with water falls, island other features.
Extensive landscaping both inside and out.
Two seamless tube hydroslides finishing in chutes.
Architecturally designed buildings in sympathy with the existing 1960s buildings.
Acoustic ceilings.
Cafeteria and kitchen with outdoor servery.
Precast concrete columns and laminated timber rafters.
Myrtha technology for learners' and both leisure pools.
Vacuum DE filters, gas chlorination.
Heat pump/heat sink system.
LHTDESIGN'S SCOPE OF WORKS As principal consultant of the $6M swimming pool project, LHTDesign led the design team (including ASC Architects, John Loughnan Mechanical Engineer and Premier Consultants) and controlled and coordinated the development of the concept through to completion of the documentation and tendering. Within this arrangement LHTDesign also had particular responsibility for civil and structural engineering, fire safety, hydraulics, and water quality.
The client provided project management services and administered the building contract while the design team provided a surveillance service.
OUTCOME The lswimming pools opened in 2002 completing the provision of the full range of aquatic facilities on one site. They have proved to be very popular, filling the needs identified by the community.
