Kapiti Coast Aquatic Centre

BRIEF
Kapiti Coast District Council has commissioned LHTDesign to provide the full facility design services for Stage 1 of the new aquatic centre at Paraparaumu.

As part of the design process we conducted a comparative assessment between the transparent ETFE and timber gridshell roof, and a more traditional building approach. The assessment evaluated the envelope performance, build ability, capital costs, running costs and ESD features of each option. Using thermal modelling we were able to demonstrate one of the key features of ETFE option and that’s the potential for energy savings year on year, by recovering solar gains to heat the pools.

The project is currently at Tender Stage
