Rarotonga’s largest retailer, Cook Island Trading Corporation (CITC), wished to update their existing retail, office and warehouse buildings in central Avarua to provide attractive and practical facilities for customers and workers alike.
This was to happen over a number of years with trading to continue throughout
- 1500 sq m refurbished retail space
- 150 sq m new retail space
- 350 sq m new office at first floor
- 700 sq m warehouse space
- Parking for 40 cars
LHTDesign was involved in this project from early conceptualisation through to completion.
The project was divided up into several stages spread over three years and LHTDesign were able to provide an overall concept plus detailed concepts for each stage. Careful planning of the stages was necessary to allow trading to continue throughout
As each stage preceded LHTDesign prepared detailed construction drawings, assisted with calling tenders and responded to construction queries.
The project is now complete and has achieved CITC’s vision of a modern, friendly and efficient space for customers and staff. The work was completed with minimum disruption to operations and came within cost and time projections.
