BRIEF
To prepare designs and documentation for a charity building project for the Trucking for Hawke’s Bay Child Cancer Charitable Trust. The Project included an Administration centre and accommodation Chalets to house the Trust and CanTeen, plus provide support facilities for families.

The centre was built over six days in October 2008 with voluntary labour provided by local tradespeople, general community members and national celebrities.

LITTLE ELMS PROJECT OUTLINE

• An administration centre to house:
       - Offices for The Trucking for HB Child Cancer
         Charitable Trust  and CanTeen
       - Family communal rooms.
       - Interview rooms.
• Three two-unit chalets including kitchenettes, accessible bathrooms and bedrooms.
• Laundry facilities.
• Other aspect of the project contributed by others;
       - Double Garage for storage of donated goods.
       - Respite House.

LHTDESIGN’S SCOPE OF WORKS
LHTDesign developed designs for the centre, working closely with client representative Charlie Trask.  We also liaised with other service providers and Council for building consents.  Fire designs were also prepared.

Plans were prepared for all site works including roading, drainage, storm and sewage services.

OUTCOME
Hundreds of Hawke’s Bay tradespeople, construction professionals, community and celebrity volunteers worked tirelessly to complete construction over six days.
