To design the building and foundations for a $15M chip mill upgrade with particular consideration given to ensuring a durable structure, minimising noise transmission to neighbouring properties, and providing a pleasant, remote environment from which to operate the chip mill machinery.
- 850 m2 building to accommodate the new chip mill processing equipment.
- Concrete walls and roof to provide both noise attenuation and high levels of durability.
- Massive machinery foundations and plinths for drum, chipper, and conveyors.
- Infeed ramp for massive log loading machinery.
- 20 tonne gantry crane.
LHTDesign provided structural design of all buildings, foundations, machine bases, and incidental elements plus fire safety designs, and associated documentation.
Working closely with Pan Pac in its role as project manager, we monitored construction of the building and civil engineering components.
The chip mill building and machinery foundations design brief was fully met, with the adjacent chip mill production continuing through to the actual removal of the existing equipment. The new plant is fully operational within the new facility.
The buildings have proved to be robust, economical and functional, and the noise mitigation effective. LHTDesign successfully met the tight budgetary and time constraints to achieve completion of these projects.
