Heinz Wattie - Seasonal Kitchen, Hastings

BRIEF
To design and manage alterations to existing buildings to convert them into state-of-the-art processing areas for seasonal foods.

FOOD PROCESSING PROJECT OUTLINE

  • Conversion of 1400sq m of coolstores and associated areas into food processing space.
  • Specialist hygiene finishes to graded concrete floor slabs.
  • Lining to walls and ceilings with pre-finished panels.

LHTDESIGN'S SCOPE OF WORKS
LHTDesign worked closely with Heinz Wattie projects' staff to develop the initial concepts and project budgets.  These concepts were developed into full working drawings closely matched to the requirements of the process equipment.

The construction work was split into several separate contracts, thus allowing Heinz Wattie to select its preferred sub contractors and to closely control the timing of each construction phase.  LHTDesign called tenders, managed and co-ordinated these separate contracts.

OUTCOME
The Heinz Wattie project design team has achieved an internationally-recognised "ideal" for a food processing factory with this, and other plant-improvement projects.
