To design and manage the construction of mezzanine floors in two separate food processing areas: a replacement Upper Peach Slicing Floor mezzanine; and a replacement and extension to the Recipe Kitchen Kettles mezzanine. In both instances, the work was required to meet strict MAF food safety requirements, and cause minimal disruption to the operation of the processing plant.
- Second level 400sq m mezzanine.
- 90sq m mezzanine one metre off the floor to provide required pipe fall.
LHTDesign worked with two different contractors for the two separate projects to develop a workable solution for each area that would meet the exacting time constraints and performance specifications of each.
In both instances stainless steel was specified to provide hygiene protection, durability, and longevity of use. The inherent challenges of using stainless steel, such as deflection etc, were successfully overcome.
As construction was undertaken around the ongoing plant operation, a modular approach to the design and installation was required and successfully achieved through strong communication between LHTDesign, the respective contractors and the client.
Installation of the mezzanines did not unduly interfere with the factory’s operation and the client’s expectations for effective production flows have been achieved.
