Fire Engineering

LHTDesign’s fire engineering team has the experience and expertise to meet the growing need for professional fire engineering, in the design and ongoing management of buildings.

We offer solutions to large and complex fire safety scenarios, can access specialist fire modeling, and can arrange the design of mechanical smoke extraction systems through a separate sub-consultant.

Industry support
LHTDesign engineers regularly attend fire-related conferences around the country and have a strong rapport with local Fire Service and Territorial Authority fire personnel.  This extensive network of professional peers, equipment suppliers, installers and contractors enables us to keep abreast of industry advances.

We also have the experience and knowledge of the Building Act to meet compliance requirements and ensure our fire engineering designs proceed smoothly through Council consent processes.

At the forefront of fire engineering advances and developments we like to look outside the square when providing solutions to building owners, that are both economic and safe.

Unlike many others, LHTDesign has a good understanding of the total picture.  Fire engineering for us is not just a matter of producing a report to keep council happy - we make sure that on every projects we look at ways of minimising risk, evaluating construction alternatives that allow for better occupant safety or property protection, and of optimising building layout to reach a solution that also provides the best results.

We can assist with:

Fire engineering reports to accompany building consent applications including:
   - Education buildings
   - Coolstores and large storage buildings
   - Accommodation buildings

Fire safety audits of existing buildings
