Woodford House Hall, Havelock North

BRIEF
To design concept sketches for a significant refurbishment of the existing school hall to enable costing preparations for Board approval.

To provide structural documentation and subsequent structural advice for the renovation process.

SCHOOL BUILDING DESIGN PROJECT OUTLINE

  • Merging of former common room, chaplain’s office, and patio area into the hall area to provide room for adequate seating.
  • High quality finishing specifications to ensure the renovations matched the existing building, including rimu ceilings, walls and floors.

LHTDESIGN’S SCOPE OF WORKS
LHTDesign prepared concept plans using specialised AutoCad software to provide 3D drawings that enabled the school Board to be sure the renovations planned would extend the yesteryear charm of the private girls’ school buildings to the 2006 alterations.

Working closely with the contractor Gemco Construction, and the school ensured that the hall could be used at key times during the renovation process.

OUTCOME
The school board, staff, parents and students are pleased with the functionality of the hall extensions, and delighted that the special character of the architecture has been protected and enhanced.

LHTDesign has been engaged by Gemco Construction to work on the iconic chapel extensions following the success of the hall extension.
