BRIEF
To design an economical stand-alone retail building and first floor office space that allows open plan retailing.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING DESIGN PROJECT OUTLINE

  • 700sq m ground floor retail space with only four internal columns.
  • Ground floor warehouse and delivery vehicle unloading space with clear access to retail floor and to additional first floor warehouse.
  • Ground floor amenities.
  • First floor office space, meeting rooms and staff amenities.
  • First floor leasable office space with separate ground floor entry, passenger lift and amenities.
  • Exterior building appearance that looks smart but conveys impression to customers of ‘economy’.
  • Exterior parking.

LHTDESIGN’S SCOPE OF WORKS
LHTDesign worked closely with the contractor, Amtech Construction and the client, Rob Duckworth to develop initial concepts for this job that met operational, aesthetic and cost requirements.

These concepts were then developed into full documentation suitable for Resource Consent and Building Consent applications.

OUTCOME
Duckworths Retravision opened its new premises in May 2003 which has been well received by the clients and shoppers alike.  All of the project requirements were met or exceeded including budget, programme and quality.
