LHTDesign has been involved in many projects at the Hawkes Bay Hospital over the years including the design of a new moment resisting steel frame structure to support critical plant equipment. The structural design of the new cooling tower to the rear of the site consisted of a two phase design. Initially a single platform was installed at the proposed site. Later an existing platform was relocated adjacent to the new platform. The existing platform was adjusted to fit into the new location including the removal of one of the primary columns. The new platform was designed to act both independently and is part of the combined structure inducing the allowance for the existing column removal.
