Alan has far-reaching and broad experience in commercial and industrial projects with over three decades of practice in consulting engineering. His depth of expertise covers hands-on design, to the control and coordination of the design for a wide variety of projects. Alan has special expertise in the planning and design of food processing and food storage facilities.

Alan graduated from Canterbury University in 1975 with his Engineering degree. Starting work with the Hastings District Council Alan then moved to LHTDesign as a senior engineer.  Alan bought into the business in 1984 and has since then been responsible for the commercial and technical management.

Gerry is a senior electrical engineer with a range of experience in the UK and international electrical building services fields. Key areas of experience include industrial, commercial, schools, healthcare, leisure, housing and public services work. 

Gerry began his career in Ireland and has worked throughout the UK.  Prior to arriving in Hawke's Bay to work for LHTDesign Gerry spent time working in Saudi Arabia, largely in commercial and education projects. 

Gerry brings the best of international electrical engineering experience in the UK, Europe and the Middle East to Hawke's Bay. He's worked on a number of large-scale projects that have fine-tuned his skills in electrical engineering that he utilises locally. Gerry works on current and new builds and applies his professional expertise to lighting design, power, security and CCTV.

Projects of interest include currently working on the $100 million Auckland International Airport extension. Gerry has also completed the electrical engineering side of a New Zealand built underwater restaurant destined for the Maldives.

Linda Ralph

MEMBERSHIPS

A senior draughtsperson, Linda has a wide ranging depth of knowledge in commercial and industrial draughting. Her work involves the preparation of preliminary concepts, 3D modelling, sketch up images, working documentation for Council approvals, tendering and construction purposes.

Linda trained as an architectural draughtsperson and has worked in a variety of areas from residential and hospitality through to medical projects. Whilst living in Wellington she was involved in electrical, mechanical and shop fitting projects. Linda also gained experience working in Australia before returning to Hawke's Bay to join the architectural company of Judd Fenwick Team Architecture. Later she moved to LHTDesign, where she has expanded her draughting knowledge to include structural work.

Matt Danes

MEMBERSHIPS

Matt started with LHTDesign just over a decade ago as a new trainee and is now one of LHTDesign's talented draughtsmen.  He has gathered broad ranging experience in structural and architectural draughting. Matt is familiar with various draughting and design software packages such as AutoCAD and Revit.

He is responsible for the production of working drawings for structural, civil and architectural projects. Documentation ranges from preliminary design through to consent and construction applications.

Simon McLoughlin

Simon is a senior structural engineer with a specialisation in seismic design and strengthening. He brings experience from both New Zealand and Europe, working with existing and new builds. He works with a range of building materials from concrete and steel through to timber and masonry.

Simon graduated in 2006 from Dublin Institute of Technology with his Engineering degree. He started working as a structural engineering in Ireland, where he worked until 2009. Simon immigrated to New Zealand in 2010, joining LHTDesign in Hawke's Bay.

He has been critical in the design and implementation of both new constructions and seismic strengthening of existing buildings for companies such as Unison Networks Ltd, Heinz Watties, and EIT.

Sue is LHTDesign's highly experienced Practice Manager, administration manager and is the front of the company.

She particularly enjoys the beautiful premises that LHTDesign work from, as well as the interesting work that the team produce and the great people that make up the team.  "Coming to work here everyday is fun, we have a good mix"

Sue is the go-to contact for clients and the general running of the business. She supports the engineers and draughtspeople to deliver effective day to day services.

Matthew Witheford

MEMBERSHIPS

Matthew joined LHTDesign as a draughtsman in 2017.  Matthew begun his career in construction as a residential builder in Auckland building both new homes and renovating old homes.  After spending the last seven years working in sport management he has re-entered the construction industry as a trainee draughtsman while studying through The Open Polytechnic.

Matthew is one of the draughtpersons for Goldpine Sheds, and assists with the production of the Goldpine projects.

Guy De Salis

MEMBERSHIPS

Guy recently joined LHTDesign as a project manager. He brings with him 10 years experience in facilities management and project management working on commercial property in NZ and Australia. 

Guy has spent the last 4 years in safety and compliance roles working in food safety, logistics, water and brings a unique skill set to LHTDesign.

Guy has become LHT's resident fire consultant applying the NZBC Acceptable Solutions and has assisted a number of clients including Kiwirail, Tomoana Pelt Processors and Cape Kidnappers Golf Course.  Also with the support from the LHT Engineers, Guy undertakes seismic assessments to the NBS.  His knowledge in safety and compliance has assisted LHTDesign in developing safety in design systems to consider in their designs through construction, operation, maintenance and demolition.

Lucas Steyn

Lucas is a structural engineer with experience designing a range of commercial and industrial buildings. Most of his experience thus far was gained in South-Africa where he worked on a number of interesting projects that utilized various construction materials including concrete, structural steel, timber and masonry. Post-tensioned concrete technology is particularly interesting to Lucas, and he has used it successfully on several of his previous projects.

Lucas graduated in 2009 from Stellenbosch University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then worked as a Structural Engineer in South-Africa until 2019. Lucas immigrated to New Zealand in January 2020 when he joined LHTDesign.
